Amanda Maier (1853-1894) takes centre stage today. Ze was born in Sweden, studied in Germany and then moved to The Netherlands. She was a violinist and composer, who won awards and toured through Europe – yet, she is not as well-known as her friends and family: Grieg, Clara Schumann, Smyth and Brahms, and her husband Julius Röntgen.
