Episode 4 in a series on the dance and music genre ‘Mambo’ from Cuba.
‘Mambo’ was very popular in the 40s and 50s, and still is. This style of music has over time become known as ‘salsa’.
Today we will feature some more recent mambos from Cuba and New York City. We will kick off with a song by Machito & his Salsa Big Band, from an album that was recorded in the Netherlands and even won a Grammy.
In this 64th episode of Mambo, we further spotlight mister ‘mambo’, Tito Puente (pictured). We will play three of his songs.
