Joe Venuti (1903-1978) part 8, he was the first prominent jazz violin player. With his colleague and friend guitar player Eddie Lang, he formed a successful pioneering duo. Today, the last recordings with Eddie Lang and other recordings under Venuti’s own name from 1932 and 1933.

Bass player Harry Miller (1941-1983) was born in South Africa (Johannesburg) but moved to England. Last year, his widow released newly discovered recordings of Harry Miller’s Isipingo on the Ogun Records label. Quintet recordings from 1973 (London) and sextet recordings from 1976 (Chateauvallon Jazz Fetival).

The Vito Brothers is an ensemble founded in 2005, that combines improvisation music with visual means. In 2009 they produced a programme called ‘Kind of Cool’, inspired by the 50th anniversary of the famous album ‘Kind of Blue’ by Miles Davis.

Orchestra conductor, composer and pianist Duke Ellington (1899-1974) part 26. In 1963, his orchestra released a 12-part suite entitled Afro Bossa, based on musical traditions from Africa and South America. After that we follow up with rare recordings by the Ellington piano trio from 1953.
