Benny Carter (1907-2003) and his saxophone teams. This composer / arranger / instrumentalist has let his saxophone sections play many a special chorus in his long life, with Carter’s graceful way of playing as a guideline. The world of music has been able to enjoy this from the 30s, when he worked as a studio arranger in England, to well into the 80s.

Born in California, reed player Michael Moore (1954) is a key figure of the Amsterdam improvisation scene. Dutch singer Greetje Kauffeld (1939). She made many recordings. Today we can hear her with tenor saxophone player Ruud Brink (1937-1990). A repertoire of standards in which both soloists’ talents have full play, the recordings are from 1976 and 1987).

Dutch pianist / composer / orchestra leader Michiel Braam (1964). He is one of the most prominent figures in the contemporary Dutch jazz scene. With his great technique and large frame of reference, he is one of Europe’s most interesting contemporary pianists. Today, a solo performance from 2004, recorded at the Loft club in Cologne. To be noted is that he will turn 50 in May this year, which will be celebrated with a concert at the Lindenberg in Nijmegen on 17 May 2014, an event involving more than 20 musicians.
