Making a programme about Frank Zappa is just like sending a child to a candy store. There is so much and you can select anything; you are almost flooded with sensations. Tonight’s programme is an ode to the man who would have become 75 this year. Completely in style it is an hour long Zappa pieces in collage: interviews, commentary, sound effects, a range of music styles and of course some audience participation time. Also in style: we have not selected the most obvious pieces and if we did, we replaced it with other versions and there is not even a chronological order in the different bands and history. After all, everything in Zappa’s world is one big composition: The Big Note.
