American percussionist Hamid Drake (1955). From his Afro-American roots he moves through the world of jazz improvisation and world music with influences from Africa, India, the Middle East and Italy. On 23 January he performs with an extended ensemble at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam.

The Dutch pianist and composer Guus Janssen (1951). He is seen as one of the most important European improvising pianists with a wide outlook and a magnificent technique, referring to various styles from the music history. Today an impressive CD from 2008 on which he can be admired as a solo pianist.

The American pianist and composer Muhal Richard Abrams (1930), part 8. He is mainly active in Chicago and founder of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM). Recordings from 1984-1989 in various compositions.

Around 100 students of the IVKO school in Amsterdam were a guest at the Muziekgebouw where they followed workshops Djembe in the sound-playground, with the group Tin Men and the Telephone.

Mel Tormé (1925-1999). He started as a drummer but fairly quickly chose to start singing and was quite successful from the 1950s onwards. Starting in 1955, he recorded excellent albums together with pianist and arranger Marty Paich. Today a broad selection: Mel Tormé with the Marty Paich Dek-tette.
